Rebuke of Abusive and Cowardly Men- Courtesy of Mark Driscoll

My wife and I listen to sermon podcasts on car trips. We farily frequently make forays to Oklahoma to visit our families and the trips are fairly lengthy. That leaves us a good bit of car time to listen to the radio. Right now there are two pastors that I regularly listen to: Tommy Nelson (Denton Bible Church) and Mark Driscoll (Mars Hill Church). They have two completely different styles, but each one preaches the Word.

Mark Driscoll has been doing a sermon series where he is preaching verse by verse through 1 and 2 Peter. The video clip that I am going to post below comes from a sermon he delivered over the following verse from 1 Peter 3:7:

7(I)You husbands in the same way, live with your wives in an understanding way, as with (J)someone weaker, since she is a woman; and show her honor as a fellow heir of the grace of life, so that your prayers will not be hindered.

Driscoll stated at the beginning of his sermon that his message would be directed at men and would have a more direct, rough, and confrontational tone than a typical sermon. I personally found it refreshing that a pastor would call out men who are becoming increasingly lazy and cowardly and those who would mistreat a woman and condemn their shirking of Biblical responsibility.

  1. I like Driscolls blunt style it is very appealing and shows that this generation will listen to a preacher.

  2. thankyou. Sure wish someone wouldve stepped like you have a loooooooong time ago. God bless you because even though my x repents, not one man of God has called him on the floor, our pastor even blamed me for the bruises on my head.
