I’m a little bit later than I wanted to be with this entry, but writing a Greek paper took precedent today.
Today was a big day for the Huckabee campaign. One of the biggest criticisms of Huckabee has been his inability to raise enough funds to be competitive, those criticism may have been proven wrong today. Supporters succeeded in raising just over 1.3 million dollars for Huckabee in online donations alone over the course of just a matter of weeks. This is no small feat considering that more money has now been raised for Huckabee in that short time frame than was raised in the entire previous quarter.
This good news could not come at a better time for Huckabee as he prepares to make two major media appearances today. This evening the Governor will be appearing on both The O’reilly Factor and Hannity and Colmes. He will be able to go into those interviews with some excellent news for his supporters and a gut punch for his critics.
The interviews this evening give the Governor a chance to win a number of new supporters as O’reilly has the largest audience of all the cable news shows. His audience is also very broad with a mix of conservatives, moderates, and even some liberals. Huckabee’s message will have a chance to resonate with people who might never have heard of him, or have heard very little. The interview on Hannity and Colmes will give him a great opportunity to reach out to conservatives who don’t yet know who to support or who may have thrown their support behind another candidate early in the race but have become disenfranchised with said candidate.
Needless to say, today is a huge day for Huckabee and his supporters on a number of levels. Not only did he surpass his fund raising goals, but he also has an incredible opportunity to expand his base of support and increase his standing in the polls even more.
