Bill Kristol of The Weekly Standard on Mike Huckabee

Bill Kristol, editor in chief of the respected magazine The Weekly Standard, today posted an article which speaks highly of Mike Huckabee’s chances at being the nominee of the Republican party (link).

Kristol’s opinion carries a lot of weight in conservative circles and proves yet again that momentum for the Governor is continuing to grow. Huckabee has so far been able to give strong responses to all his critics, so if he can continue to get positive press from names like Kristol, it speaks well of his chances of continuing to advance in the polls. The increased publicity also will help Huckabee to close the fund raising gap between himself and the other candidates. This will, in turn, allow him to get his message out to a broader audience.

These last few months have proved that Mike Huckabee is a viable candidate. His steadily increasing support and continual improvement in the polls attest to this. As long as he can continue to answer the criticisms that are increasingly being leveled against him with strength and style, I believe we will continue to see him gain momentum.

  1. I’ll post this here, since I don’t have a separate blog up yet (somehow lib science stuff and conservative politics don’t exactly mix :-D):

    From http://www.politico.com/news/stories/1007/6606.html:

    “I did some math:

Mitt Romney has spent $53.6 million this primary season and has 36.2 percent of the vote in Iowa, according to the poll. Which means Romney has spent $1.48 million for every percentage point of support.

Rudy Giuliani has spent $30.6 million and has 13.1 percent of the vote. Which means he has spent $2.34 million for every percentage point of support.

Mike Huckabee has spent $1.7 million and has 12.8 percent of the vote. Which means he has spent $133,000 for every percentage point of support.

So who is the biggest fiscal conservative?

By my calculations, if Huckabee had Romney’s money, Huckabee would have 40.3 percent of the vote in Iowa and would be in first place.”

I love it! Now that’s a counter to the “liberal” label Huckabee has gotten from CATO and Club for Growth.

    I Heart Huckabee!

  2. Nice post for Huckabee, but the math is kind of fuzzy. Based on a more accurate calculation Huckabee would only need $13,281,250.00 to get all of the vote. Needing only 25% of what Romney has spent.

When you have a lot of money you tend to spend it foolishly. Wisdom of a good steward is better for this country.

    Accountants for Huckabee!
